“Castello di Spaltenna”, an ancient fortified monastery, established in Pieve and with bell tower dating from the year 1000, is a splendid example of natural medieval architecture, rich in history and legend.
The feudal village encircled by vineyards and secular woods, overlooks an idyllic valley in the heart of Chianti. From the grassy terraces in front of the castle, guests can enjoy the tranquillity and panorama of the Tuscany countryside.
Inside, the bedrooms and suites are comfortable and prestigious, furnished in a refined way with high quality fabrics and accessories, and have a splendid view over the Chianti region or the cloister.
The Pieve Restaurant is in the converted millennial salon of the castle and offers tradition cuisine in an elegant and creative way together with a large selection of local and national wines. For unique and unforgettable occasions, suggestive candlelight dinners are served in the cloister, which is dominated by the ancient Pieve bell tower.
Facilities available for guests are two swimming pools - the open-air one with a pleasant waterfall – Turkish bath, sauna, gym, tennis court, billiards and many other leisure activities just a short distance from Spaltenna.

His Opinion: This was exceptional value for money. Splendid setting and beautiful outside area to have lunch and a glass of vino. The breakfast was the best we had in Tuscany and the service was exemplary. We would highly recommend this place!

His Opinion: Your hotel is a special place in a special part of the world. We had a wonderful time. The pool and dining areas were just stunning. The service was fantastic. Marco at reception recommended some fantastic restaurants for dinner and the management were very courtious when dealing with our on going air condtioning problem. Thank you.

His Opinion: When making reservation asked for a room in the chateau. Was not given one. Also some of the breakfast staff not very friendly too rushed. Think they were students. Overall very good experience. Will recommend.

His Opinion: The staff were friendly and attentive. Hotel was delightful to look at.
Nowhere to sit and relax, room didn't have 2 chairs, no balcony, only hard chairs on dining terrace, only loungers by pool. If you wanted to just sit and read you had to be indoors.
Difficult for my disabled friend to move about the hotel, would definitely not say it was suitable for anybody with walking impairments.
Did not get shown around so only chanced to find some of the facilities.
