The Parador de Alcalà de Henares, birth city of Miguel de Cervantes is about 26 km from Madrid and only 20 km from the international airport of Barajas, located in a magnificent XVII century building, the old school of the Dominican convent of San Thomas of Aquino that, together with Junior College Student Inn of San Girolamo, study centre of classic languages founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1510, represent this monumental heritage declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
In the surrounding areas, you can see other architectural treasures such as the chapel of San Ildefonso, the Archbishop's Palace, the Baroque monastery of Las Bernadas and the outdoor Museum of Modern Sculptures and the house-museum of Cervantes.
Around the cloister of Saint Thomas College there's the restaurant, coffee shop, tea-room, hall, wellness centre, in addition to the splendid outdoor pool.
The restaurant serves a wide variety of specialities with many allusions to the Cervantes cuisine, a strong cuisine, that comes from the vast plains of the Mancia such as the typical stew which is a traditional dish of Madrid, not to mention the delicious pastries made with almonds and honey. There are also the flowers, the Mancia flowers, marzipan, piononos, the costrada of Alcalá and the famous pralines.
