The Parador de Jaen, a rare Arab fortress dating from the 13th century, lies on the top of Cerro de Santa Catalina, just 5 km from the provincial capital rich in history. The privileged position makes this a horizon problem for Jaén, defence bastion.
The position of this imposing fort confirms its character as the defence bastion of Jaén. Today, however, it has become an ideal destination to relax and discover the splendours of the Andalusian Renaissance. The refreshing swimming pool and the high walls protect the guests from the hot sun of Southern Spain.
The monumental appearance is maintained inside, where there are imposing arches crossed 20 meters in height of the main hall, the comfortable and cosy rooms with a magnificent scenic view and restaurant with notable Arabic influence.
The kitchen offers varied dishes: "ajoblanco", a delicious soup made with garlic, oil, almonds and bread. Without leaving out the terrine of partridge, deer or the pipirrana style of Jaén.
Jaén and the surrounding areas boast many interesting places to visit: the Ali Spas, the Cathedral, several noble palaces, the natural park of Sierra Magina and the Iberian Museum.Or even the city of Baeza (49 km), an ancient university and Episcopalean town, Ubeda (57 km) with its old palaces and its maze of picturesque streets worth a visit:flowerpots, painted iron, all the charm of Andalusia.

His Opinion: Sehr imposant gelegen. Leider Blick auf Vielzahl schrecklicher moderner Gebäude und Hallen in der Ebene, in der die historische Altstadt untergeht.
Zimmer sind in die Jahre gekommen.
Essen im Restaurant (Riesenhalle) nur mässig.
Sehr schöner grosszügiger Pool mit schönem Blick.
